Reports to: Associate Director of Media & Marketing
Summary of Role
The Graphic Designer creates original physical and digital content to support communications and ministry needs for all campuses of Emmanuel Church. The focus of your position will be graphic arts; you may take part in creative meetings, advance planning, follow-up reviews, and all-team projects and initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create original designs in various media formats
- Work on multiple design projects while meeting deadlines with excellence
- Deliver ideas, offering multiple options, as needed
- Collaborate and work closely with Emmanuel staff and leaders across all ministry areas
- Provide direction and oversight to graphic arts contractors and outside vendors
- Maintain established brand identify including image, message, style, icons, font, and logo usage.
- Apply design experience to creative solutions; work with and adjust written copy pertaining to graphic work.
- Occasionally complete projects by coordinating with outside agencies, printers, etc.
- Other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Expertise in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign (or comparable software)
For Extra Credit:
- Experience with branding and/or marketing
- Video experience, particularly motion design using Adobe After Effects or similar
- Experience with large-scale formats, i.e. video screens, staging, wall murals, etc.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of current design trends, with a ‘continual learner’ mindset
- Highly skilled in both print and web design with an understanding of the nuanced differences needed for both
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment; execute work under tight production deadlines, manage a high work volume
- Well-versed in a wide range of graphic design techniques and concepts
- Strong attention to detail
- Open-minded and willing to seeking new trends in design and ways to stay relevant
- Understanding of branding and ability to work within an established visual framework
- Strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to learn and use Emmanuel’s systems (Rock, Planning Center, etc.) and learn and adapt to new technology
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner, self-motivated
- Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when handling personal and ministry information
- Demonstrate a servant heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity

- Agreement to abide by Emmanuel Church’s Expectations of a Staff Member which include:
o Financial support of the church with your tithe
o Attend one weekend service each week and monthly staff meetings
o Participate in community through small group
o Prioritize a Sabbath (one 24-hour period of time off work each week)
